Homecoming

October 29, 2010

Changes

August 31, 2010

On vacation to North Carolina last week I got a lot of time to think about my direction with photography and the 365 project. While I got a lot out of the project, it became more and more a chore and I didn’t feel like it pushed me creatively. So, I have decided to end the project as it stands right now.

I do want to have a project that provides some framework to follow but not as time consuming as an everyday project. I haven’t yet decided what the replacement will be. I am thinking along the lines of:

  • A portrait every week of a different person.
  • Experimenting with a different shooting technique every couple weeks such as panoramics, using theater gels, or panning.
  • Shooting different subjects such as houses, interiors, vehicles, dogs, products, etc.
  • Going through magazines and attempting to pick apart and recreate an image (mainly a lighting exercise).
  • Many others.

More updates to come…

Had two extremely busy days with work and Jake and Christine’s wedding. I missed both days but instead of skipping over them, the project will go an extra 2 days to make up for it.
